Re: Fright Night
It's a horrible album, but I still cherish it as the origin of Stratovarius. Other than Tolkki, it has zero relevance to the band's legacy. Which is worse: Fright Night or the self titled Stratovarius album? Fright Night, no contest. The self-titled gets a lot of hate, and even the band doesn't lik...

Re: What Ever Happened to Visions?
Oh... also, what's wrong with Fright Night ? It has some really nice more rocky songs. Nothing's inherently wrong with it, on its own, but I think it has aged horribly. It's also pretty amateur songwriting, extremely 80s in a lot of bad ways, and even the second album sounds is a huge leap in quali...

Re: Happy Bday Timo Tolkki, wherever you are
For however he's behaved over the years (whether it's his fault or not), and despite all the bullshit that happened in the band, the guy's music and records quite literally shaped my life. Happy birthday, Timo. Hope you're well.

Re: What Ever Happened to Visions?
As a fellow fan in the US I feel your pain. However I bought all my albums online years ago for prices between $5 and $15. I think the most I ever paid was $20 - a lucky ebay bid for a sealed copy of the self-titled with the bonus DVD. The only one I haven't found for a decent price is Fright Night....

Re: Sonata Arctica - The Ninth Hour
SA is just not the same without Jani. Cain's Offering delivers what's missing from SA. Wish it can become a permanent band with a dedicated singer. I mean, Cain's Offering is more Stratovarius II than anything else these days. Has as many original members (From the Visions lineup) as Strato and has...

Probably.
I check this place far more often than I should... always wish there was more activity. Not many places I have to gush about my favorite band.

Re: Sonata Arctica - The Ninth Hour
Man, I love every album Sonata has put out, but Closer To An Animal is just not doing it for me. The melodies are so meandering and weak and it sounds like the band is back there just playing whatever to chug along until the end, it sounds like they're all falling asleep while playing. I've never h...

Re: Ever coming back to tour US?
Other than the occasional cruise spot, and I think a performance at ProgPower USA in - 2012 was it? - good luck. The last time they toured the states was in 2009, the one and only time I've seen them live. Been dying for a tour since. I'm gutted I'll probably never get to see many Elysium, Nemesis o...

On my second file, I hoarded over 200 moons. I was trying to hoard as many as possible before dumping them into the ship but I couldn't hold back and watched 200+ moons fly into the Odyssey for like 20 seconds. It was glorious :) nice how did you manage to hoard 200 moons? each level has like...

the more I play it, the more I think this could be the best mario game so far. Did you find all the moons and coins without looking online? Almost all of them. I'd get down to the last 10-15 moons, then use the in-game parrot and Toad to narrow them down. For almost every kingdom though, there ende...

This. Literally nobody wants it, except Tolkki diehards who haven't realized Tolkki is in literally no shape to do it, and Matias and the other boys are more than capable of carrying the legacy. Some sleeping dogs should just lie.mocobhc wrote:...adrian9 wrote:and that's what people want.

Kai Hansen is hardly Kai Hansen anymore and Deris still kicks Kiske's ass on the Keepers era stuff. Wish they'd have done this 10 years ago when the fogeys could still sing Last time I saw Kai was in 2011 in the USA but he hit every note in Ride The Sky. Also adding every Fates Warning album to that list. So that's Night on Brocken, The Spectre Within, Awaken the Guardian, No Exit, Perfect Symmetry, Parallels, Inside Out, A Pleasant Shade of Gray, Disconnected, Fates Warning X, Darkness In A Different Light, and Theories of Flight.

I don't think it's so much resting on his laurels as it is he's finally found the 'sound' that he's been chasing forever and can finally produce on a reasonable basis. No way he's making 'a lot' of money from it, but certainly his name is always on the tongues of the power metal world.

Re: Jani + Anette OTP
I got a Nightwish vibe, again, at the beginning of the song. Thankfully not nearly as blatant as Antemortem. Good song for a single, I enjoyed it. I hope there's some meatier power metal type stuff on this album but whatever it is I'll be picking up a copy.
