Don't know how much of an audience I'll find on a metal forum with a few dozen regulars but might as well try it out!
So I've been working on neoclassical piano stuff and power metal stuff, but I haven't produced any of the latter yet. Which leaves the piano stuff. I've just released my fourth album, "Love Stories Aged Yellow", and I'd like to share it with you guys:
http://soundcloud.com/mikhail-garrievit ... ged-yellow
My style is heavily influenced by power and symphonic metal in general, and Jens Johansson, Timo Tolkki and Jari Maenpaa specifically. On the classical side I draw a lot from Beethoven, Chopin and Rachmaninoff. I've been trying to get away from sounding like I'm trying to do piano covers of metal songs, but still rely on trying to get my single instrument to simulate the more "whole" sound of a rock band or symphonic orchestra.
So check out the album and let me know what you think!
If you're in a hurry, check out the third track, Flamedance. It's 57 seconds long and gives a pretty good impression of my style as a whole.

Re: I play keyboard pretty fast
Are you using a real grand piano? I could be wrong but to me it doesn't sound digital. Anyways great stuff.
Re: I play keyboard pretty fast
Really nice! Fellow keyboardist over here. We've got quite the similar style!

Re: I play keyboard pretty fast
Excellent, it works! The answer is no, I play it on my keyboard and process the sound via my plugin. It's a new MIDI plugin I got a few months ago, Ivory 1.6. Apparently Ivory 2 is supposed to be even more realistic but I couldn't find a way to pirate it. But it's a really good sound for a program from 2004, it accounts for all the different vibrations the other strings make, the sounds of fingers actually pressing the keys, etc. Ivory is extraordinarily in-depth, I highly recommend.fuck wrote:Are you using a real grand piano? Send me some stuff, I want to hear!rikkertje wrote:Really nice! Fellow keyboardist over here. We've got quite the similar style!

Nice! Any realistic orchestra plugins you have? I heard east west Hollywood strings is pretty good.

I'm currently just using Sibelius Sounds for all my scoring needs. I might get an actual plugin later on but for now I'm just pulling people from my campus that play instruments. College students will work for peanuts.
Re: I play keyboard pretty fast
Wow. You should get an xylophone player to join you. Xylophone shred.

I used to play mallets for a while in high school band, might be able to do it myself if I could get my hands on a xylophone
Re: I play keyboard pretty fast
Maybe I can give you xylophone inspiration with this sound clip.
Made this in propellerhead reason, the mixing and mastering is bad though.

I put together a piano cover of "Veil of Elysium" from Kamelot's latest album! I tried to condense as much of the original instrumentation I could into this cover, as well as a few of my own flairs and improvisations throughout.

Another cover!
This time, I combined Yngwie Malmsteen's "Far Beyond the Sun" and Demi Lovato's "Heart Attack" into a single 7-minute epic! Had no idea the songs would sound so good put together xD
