STRATOVARIUS LOT OF VIDEOS FROM YOUTUBE
Wow, what a gem! Great stuff!
Re: STRATOVARIUS LOT OF VIDEOS FROM YOUTUBE
Wow, mind blowing to know there is still material to be discovered out there!
And the audio quality is surprisingly good, given the year and the quality of integrated mics at that time.
Anyway, good concert and nice instrumental performance, nice setlist but they could have chosen more songs from Twilight Time (or Stratovarius II) and a couple of different songs from Fright Night (Witch Hunt and Future Shock) instead of unpolished "demo songs" from Dreamspace and Fourth Dimension.
But, on the other hand, it's awesome to see that in '92 Tolkki have had almost composed material for the next two albums.
Is also interesting to hear him on a "Kotipelto" song just like Nightfall, this is something I can really appreciate (I know there are some demos of Tolkki singing Fourth Dimension but it's impossible to have them).
Vocal wise I can confirm something I figured out long time ago, Tolkki wasn't a singer at all.
He was kind of amateurish and mediocre and, on the first three albums, there are a lot of vocal cheats like the high-pitched screams from Break the Ice and so on, he wasn't capable of these notes at all.
Then he was completely off while in mixed voice and his voice was also thin and unstable; I can see why he dismissed his vocal duties.
Nonethless I like him on studio album.
About the other guys: nice chops from Lassila, he was a good drummer, Jari Behm was actually a good bass player and his way of playing, with a lot of fast runs, remind me of Kainulainen, but Behm used also a weird slap technique during this live performance.
Ikonen, instead, never really shines throughout the show nor I like his keyboard patches at all, even on studio albums I find them kind of boring even if properly mixed.
Surely he wasn't a virtuoso like Jens but, at that time, Stratovarius heavily rely on guitar and rhythmic works with some melodic and harmonic subtle musical accompaniment underneath (wow, nice stack o' words).
But, aside from my critical point of view, this is a great witness and I thought I would have never see a full show with this line-up.
Big up for Jari!

Jari fucking Behm. Had to check my calendar to make sure I didn't oversleep and wake up to April 1.
Ikonen was never a keyboard player inasmuch as he was a synth player who had to perform alongside everyone else. His talents were always more in the field of getting new, interesting, atmospheric sounds into the music than actually being technically proficient like a typical keyboarder (Jens). Even now he works as a professor of sound design.

Well, Christmas came early this year imma right? I don't think I have seen a live performance of "Metal Frenzy" before, amazing...I dont think I have seen a live performance with Jari Behm before now that I think about it, on the Infinite Visions tape it kind of goes from 1989 to 1994 right away.oslamph16 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 3:49 amGUYS, Jari Behm himself posted a 1992 SHOW FULL FOOTAGE!
I've searched and searched and I can assure you I'd NEVER THOUGHT I'D LIVE TO SEE something like this.
There was no 1992 footage I've found at all, apart from Tullikamari!

Cool again! Tolkki's solo during Fright Night was very interesting to me. I love legato+tapping during guitar solos!

Re: STRATOVARIUS LOT OF VIDEOS FROM YOUTUBE
I compiled every New era song Live recordings in one video.
Only Feeding the Fire is missinng. I can't believe there's no recording of that song, It was performed only once!

Elysium songs are criminally under-performed. That album needs more love
